The people behind testwinner.co.uk

Owner

Testwinner.co.uk is owned by the Swedish family business Testvinnare i Sverige and is run by the spouses Reine and Mirja Johansson. Testvinnare.co.uk supplies buying information and contacts. The company is independent from manufacturers and retailers. We do not sell or review any products. The web site is financed through advertising.

History

In 2003 the idea behind testvinnare.se was born when Reine Johansson was about to buy a new motherboard. It took a lot of surfing on different web sites to read tests and reviews of different models. It was both difficult and time-consuming since there was no web site where you could get a good overview of all the tests and products. Reine’s vision was to create one.

In 2004 testvinnare.se saw the light of Internet for the first time. With Reine being a pioneer many different paths were tested. The web site progressed slowly but resulted in many useful new fields of application. For example Reine identified the need for more widely covering product information with interactive buying guides and comparisons as well as search- and sorting functions. The design and direction of testvinnare.se was slowly starting to shape.

Mirja Johansson was inspired by the possibilities of the site and the company’s financial and legal competencies were strengthened with her as a partner. Shortly thereafter eleven web editors started working on creating test reviews and buying guides. The database was substantially enlarged and the visitors were starting to come in larger numbers, first and foremost via Google. Among the first categories represented were digital cameras, MP3 players, laser printers, mobile phones, video cards, laptops, palm pilots, big screen televisions and home cinema systems.

In 2005 testvinnare.se received much positive response from users as well as potential partners and advertisers. Other product comparison sites popped up and there was competition in the market. It was important to testvinnare.se to maintain their independence and high quality. The offers from potential partners were well considered before testvinnare.se and PriceRunner started their co-operation. The site was improved with PriceRunners price comparison service. It showed to be a good choice and helped to make our current services complete.

In 2006 The site has 10 000-40 000 visitors per month. Many development ideas were put aside since there wasn’t enough resources for them. Instead we focused on increasing the amount of product categories and test reviews. The site’s services was broadened to include 40 categories and the test reviews to a large extent became automatized. During this phase all marketing activities were put aside.

In 2007 we made room for new and innovative ideas again and in january we launched the first mobile price comparison service in Sweden – a mini version of testvinnare.se. Telia added the service to their mobile portal and the response from the users was and still is great. The latest new feature on testvinnare.se is the development into the "super page" where all our information is available without having to change pages.

In 2008 Our focus has always primarily been on the users and we are planning to continue with presenting new and exciting features
